An Afghan film "A letter to the President" depicting the life of a woman has been nominated for the Oscar Award.
The Roya Film House President Roya Sadat said "We are happy to announce that "A Letter to the President" has been nominated as representative movie from Afghanistan to Oscar Academy Awards by country - Afghanistan selection committee."
She said the film had its first World Premiere at the 70th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland this summer. The film is also nominated for the(Opera Prima Award).
Sadat further added that "A Letter to the President" has been set for the first Asian Premiere to BUSAN International Film Festival- in Korea in October.
Released in Kabul during the ongoing month, the film covers the story of an Afghan woman whose life has turned miserable as she has been struggling for justice.
Afghanistan’s famous and prominent actress Leena Alam plays the central role to depict the story of Suraya in the film.
The story of the film has been composed by Aziz Dildar and is a joint production of Kaboora Production and Roya Film House.
The film has previously been nominated for the Opera Prima Award in Switzerland.
