China’s Shi Zhiyong has won Gold in the 73 kilogram weightlifting event after smashing his own world record.

The 27-year-old, who had also won Gold in Rio 2016, broke all three Olympic records in snatch, clean and jerk, and total. He lifted 166 kilograms in snatch and 198 kilos in clean and jerk.

In total, Shi bettered by one kilo his own world record of 363 kilograms. It wasn’t much of a contest for Gold as second-placed Julio Ruben Mayora Pernia of Venezuela lifted 18 kilos less in total. Completing the podium was Indonesia’s Rahmat Erwin Abdullah, who lifted 342 kilograms in total.
