The young Afghan cricket, leg spinner, Rashid Khan has managed to find his way to Australias Big Bash League after shining in Indias Indian Premier League matches earlier this year.
According to the local media reports in Australia, a contract has been signed between the Strikers and Rashid Khan for the upcoming league.
"It is a huge honour to be a part of such a great tournament and even more of an honour to be the first Afghanistan player to participate on the BBL stage," Khan said in a statement, according to AAP.
Strikers coach Jason Gillespie described the signing as a "major coup" for his team.
"Rashid has set the world alight in T20 cricket ... he has some great variations, can bowl stump-to-stump and can be very hard to pick," Gillespie said in a statement.
Khan becomes the first Afghan cricketer to play in Australias Big Bash League after his successful appearances in the Indian Premier League and Caribbean League this year.
Khan along with former skipper Mohammad Nabi for first time made it into a major international sporting event, Indian Premier League, in February this year.
Nabi was sold for 3,000,000 Indian Rupees while Rashid Khan was sold for 4 million Indian Rupees.
