An American church choir sings the “Make America Great Again” song at a rally of US President Donald Trump.
Inspired by his popular 2016 campaign motto still in use today, the song was performed by a Southern Baptist church at the “Celebrate Freedom Rally” at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, on Saturday.
The Dallasite First Baptist Church Choir sang, “Lift the torch of freedom all across the land / Step into the future joining hand in hand.”
The lyrics, however, ran counter to some of Trump’s policies, including calls for a “complete shutdown” of Muslims entering the US as well as building a wall on the Mexican border to prevent refugees from entering the country.
Trump praised the lyrical performance during his speech, saying that “your music honors our heroes more than words will ever do.”
The highly regarded choir is led by Robert Jeffress, a Trump supporter who is not very popular among other evangelicals.
Last Year, a Russian feminist protest punk rock group released an anti-Trump song titled “Make America Great Again.”
Since he started campaigning for the 2016 presidential election, Trump has been unpopular figure among US minorities, including Muslims, Hispanics and African Americans.
The Republican president has vowed to crack down on immigration but has failed to get his complete agenda through so far.
