A number of MPs at Saturday's Parliament session spoke out about Friday's deadly attack on the Afghan National Army's 209 Shaheen Corps Headquarters in Balkh province and sharply criticized government for not having a clear anti-terror policy in place and said the attack was questionable.

"People in power see to it that terrorists names are removed from the black list, they see that there is a wrong policy against terrorists, they see that terrorists are being backed from inside government," said Naheed Farid, one MP.

"Government and its media section did not tell the truth to people about the attack. What happened there (Balkh) is a tragedy," MP Arif Rahmani said.

Others MPs meanwhile said the attack shows that insurgents have infiltrated the security forces.

"This (attack) sends us a message that enemies have infiltrated government," said Shah Gul Rezaie, another MP.

"When they (security officials) are summoned, the parliament (MPs) claps for them when they leave the house," Humayun Humayun, the first deputy speaker of parliament said.

MPs also slammed the infiltration of anti-government groups, especially Taliban, in government's structure and the legitimization of the Taliban by some political figures and groups.

"Why does a foreign ambassador, and why does a leader and a (former) president, recognize Taliban as a political force. This is a serious issue and I hope parliament does not simply ignore it. Our soldiers blood is being questioned," said Abdul Wadood Paiman, another MP.

"If you see any improvement under this government (NUG), come and shave my beard. This government was not OK from the beginning, it is not a government and you should suggest holding a Loya Jirga," said MP Mirwais Yasini.

Friday's attack was the second major attack on a military installation in six weeks. Last month, insurgents carried out another massive attack - on the Sardar Mohammad Daoud hospital in Kabul, which resulted in the death of 50 people.
