The death toll from the heat wave in India has passed 1,400 as the sunstroke still continues.
Most of the death toll has been reported from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states with more than 1,000 people lost lives only in Andhra Pradesh since May 18 due to the intense heat.
Most of the deaths in this province homeless people who are sleeping on the streets, laborers and elderly aged people.
In Andhra Pradesh, government issued warning through local TV channels and radios urging people to stay indoors especial between noon and 4 PM and in Telangana government was working with welfare organizations to provide drinking water to those in need through village councils.
People hit by sunstroke rush to local hospitals in order to get medical assistance.
Hospital staff at All India Institute of Medical Sciences which is one of the largest public hospitals in Delhi, wrapped patients in wet sheets in order to bring down their body temperature.
In the hard hit areas people are bathing three or four times a day and walk with their clothes wet in order to coup with killing heat.
In some areas the highest temperature was recorded as high as 116 degrees on Wednesday.
Government has issued warnings for people to stay indoors as the heat is touching its peak.
