President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani leaves for Pakistan on a two-day state visit on Friday to meet with the Pakistani officials.
President Ghani is expected to meet with the Pakistani President Manoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other high level goverment officials during his visit to Pakistan.
Tasneem Aslam, spokesperson for the Foreing Office of Pakistan, confirmed that President Ghani will arrive in Islamabad on Friday.
Aslam said bilateral relations and regional security along with the border security are among the main issues which will be discussed between the two sides.
This is first time President Ghani is visiting Pakistan after taking office as the new President of Afghanistan.
Three senior Pakistani officials, including national security adiver Sartaj Aziz, Pakistani amy chief Gen. Raheel Sharif and Pakistani intelligence chief Rizwan Akhtar have visited Kabul since the new government has been foremd.
President Ghani’s visit marks renewed effort by the two neighbours to warm up their relations which have witnessed ups and downs during the recent years.
President Ghani is also expected to hold talks on Afghan peace process with Taliban group during his visit to Pakistan.
