NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg arrived in Kabul on Thursday on an unannounced trip.
Stoltenberg, who took over as the head of the Western alliance beginning of October, visited a training center for Afghan special forces, where he told Afghan troops that NATO will continue its support once its combat forces withdraw at the end of the year.
During his visit Stoltengerg will visit President Ashraf Ghani and other officials of the National Unity Government (NUG).
This is Stoltenberg's first visit to Kabul as the NATO Secretary General.
About 12,000 U.S. and NATO forces will remain in Afghanistan post-2014 to provide training and support for the Afghan forces.
Currently, Afghanistan has a total of 350,000 Afghan National Security Forces
