President Asharf Ghani has left Kabul for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and to meet with Saudi officials, the president's office said in a statement on Saturday.
President Ghani will meet the Saudi King and other officials to discuss the two countries' relations and the role of Saudi Arabia in the peace process, according to the statement.
First VP Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum, First Deputy of Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, Mohammad Khan, Ghani's Special Envoy for Reform and Better Governance Ahmad Zia Massoud, National Security Council Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Acting Minister or Interior Mohammad Umer Daudzai and few other Afghan officials will follow the president in his first trip abroad.
During the election campaigns, Ghani had promised to make his first foreign trip to Saudi Arabia to perform Umra Hajj.
