Pakistans Prime Minister Imran Khan in an interview with CNN on Sunday said the only way for the international community to deal with the economic and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is to work with the Islamic Emirate.
He said the international community should incentivize the Islamic Emirate to fulfill its commitments in terms of human rights and an inclusive government. "The only alternative we have right now is to work with them," Khan said. "And incentivize them in what the world wants -- inclusive government, human rights, womens rights in particular. That is the only way forward right now."
Khan also said the international community is likely to recognize the Taliban, sooner or later. "Sooner or later, the Taliban would have to be recognized. Now the question is the world wants some guarantees for recognizing the Taliban," he said.
Meanwhile, some political analysts also said the international communitys engagement with the Islamic Emirate is the only way to address the economic and humanitarian crisis in the country.
"Pakistan should take steps and recognize the Islamic Emirate until the remaining neighboring countries show courage to announce recognition. Otherwise, Pakistan seems to seek its own goals by such lobbying," said Ahmad Khan Andar, political expert.
The formation of an inclusive government, respect for human rights, and the rights to freedom of expression are conditions set by the international community for recognition of the Islamic Emirate.
The Islamic Emirate officials, however, repeatedly said they are working to make the government inclusive.
