Pakistan wont stop erecting fences on Durand Line: Qureshi

Despite the recent destruction of Pakistans barbed-wire on the Durand line by the Taliban in three different provinces, Pakistans foreign minister Mahmood Qureshi has acknowledged that they will continue erecting fences on the line.

Mahmood Qureshi said that misunderstanding and recent conflicts on the Durand Line will be resolved with Kabul through the diplomatic channel.

"We will not quit, erecting barbed-wire on "border" has begun and will be continued until it gets completed. Afghanistan is our friend and brother country but some opportunists provoke issues that are not in Pakistans interests." Said Qureshi.

Taliban border guards recently destroyed fences of Pakistan in Nangarhar and Nimroz provinces as the Pakistani army reportedly wanted to erect fences and new outposts on Afghan soil.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has not officially reacted to Qureshis remarks, spokesperson of the IEA Zabiullah Mujahid said that there is no need to erect fences on Durand Line as the issue of the line is yet to be fully resolved.

Spokesperson of Talibans defense ministry Enayatullah Khwarazmi had also called the erection in opposition with the law and that Pakistan has no right to divide border.

Durand Line which has not been recognized as the official border between Afghanistan and Pakistan has always been a matter of conflict between the two countries.

No Afghan government including the Taliban has been calling it a border but a line.
