The majority of Afghan lawmakers in upper house of parliament – Meshrano Jirga wants Kabul International Airport to be named after President Hamid Karzai.
The senators on Sunday proposed to the next government of Afghanistan to name the Kabul International Airport after President Hamid Karzai.
Senate House speaker Fazal hadi Muslimyar praised President Karzai for his efforts to pave the way for peaceful transfer of power to the next president-elect of the country.
Muslimyar said it is an honour that the president is transfer the power through a peaceful political transition and urged the next government to name the Kabul International Airport after President Karzai.
President Karzai has been leading Afghanistan during the past 13 years and since the fall of the Taliban regime in 2001.
He is expected to transfer the power to Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai during the the presidential inauguration slated on Monday.
