The Indian ambassador to Afghanistan Amar Sinha signed an agreement for the revival of Kandahar cricket stadium.
The signing ceremony was also attended by economy minister Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, higher education minister Obaidullah Obaid and Afghanistan cricket board chief executive Dr. Noor Mohammad Murad.
Mr. Sinha emphasized on the revival of cricket sport in Afghanistan saying that the cricket game has attracted more youths in the country.
The government of India approved USD 1 million for the construction of cricket stadium in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan earlier last month.
The grant was approved after Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) sent a proposal to the Indian embassy requesting USD 1 million fund for the construction of a standard cricket stadium in Kandahar province.
In the meantime, Dr. Murad said the Afghanistan cricket had major achievements on international level besides the game has played vital role in national unity.
He said the construction of stadium will resolve major issues of young athletes in Kandahar province.
