Almost one year after the assassination of Iranian top anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, many in Pakistan pay tribute to him for his services to the Palestinian cause.
People in Pakistan have traditionally supported Palestinians in their struggle against Israel since 1948, when Israel killed and expelled Palestinians in mass numbers and occupied their land.
Many rally behind leaders beyond Pakistans borders over their support for Palestinians. One such leader is Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, a top Iranian commander who resisted against Israel and backed Palestinians at a time when many Arab rulers not only abandoned Palestinians but also collaborated with Israel to suppress them.
That is why many took to the streets in Pakistan to mark a year since the US assassinated General Soleimani in Iraq.
As victims of the so-called war on terror, Pakistanis view the US and its allies in a negative light. Anti-US and anti-Israel sentiments in Pakistan have been high for decades. Some Arab rulers have also been under fire after they normalized ties with Israel at the expanse of the sufferings of Palestinians.
