Fox reporter defends her sources in row with Trump

A Fox New reporter, whom US President Donald Trump wants fired from the organization, says she trusts her "sources" in the report that showed he belittled veterans.

Jennifer Griffin responded to Trumps tweet calling for her to be fired after she confirmed that he disparaged US troops.

"I can tell you that my sources are unimpeachable," Griffen said. "I feel very confident in what we have reported at Fox."

She further noted that the sources are not anonymous to her and that she doubts "they are anonymous to the president."

"Im a reporter and it was my job to report what I heard," she said.

The right-wing broadcasters national security correspondent backed up the article in the The Atlantic magazine, citing two anonymous former "senior" US officials in her reporting on Friday, saying they confirmed "key parts" of the story, though she noted that the sources could not confirm "the most salacious" part.

According to the The Atlantic article, Trump had referred to dead American World War I troops in France as "losers" and "suckers" in 2018, further revealing that he had also canceled a trip to a military cemetery because he did not want his hair wet.
Griffin was defended by Fox News colleagues after Trumps Twitter attack over confirmation of Atlantic reporting.

"According to one former senior Trump administration official: ‘When the President spoke about the Vietnam War, he said, ‘It was a stupid war. Anyone who went was a sucker," Griffin wrote in a nine-tweet thread Friday afternoon. "When asked IF the President could have driven to the Aisne-Marne Cemetery, this former official said confidently: ‘The President drives a lot. The other world leaders drove to the cemeteries. He just didnt want to go."
