A 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted Guye District of Tangshan City in north Chinas Hebei Province at 06:38 on Sunday morning, with no casualties reported so far.

The epicenter was monitored at 39.78 degrees north latitude and 118.44 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
Residents in Tangshan told China Central Television (CCTV) reporters that for what they felt, the quake lasted about three to five seconds.
The quake was followed by two smaller quakes, also in Guye District, at 7:02 and 7:26, with lower magnitudes of 2.2 and 2.0 respectively.
The earthquakes have cut off electricity and water supplies in some areas. Railway services in the region were temporarily halted as a precaution while officials are racing to carry out a full examination of facilities.
The tremors were felt in the neighboring areas of Hebei, the Chinese capital of Beijing, and Tianjin Municipality.
On July 28, 1976, an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck Tangshan, which killed over 242,000 people.
