Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Wednesday visited northeastern Badakhshan province of Afghanistan to offer sympathy and condolence to landslide victims.
President Karzai met with local residents who were displaced by the landslide in Argo district and assured for the delivery of aid which have been arranged by local and international humanitarian organizations.
Karzai said that residential house will be provided for those who have been displaced by the landslide and vowed to closely monitor the distribution of aid to the victims of the incident.
Around 250 to 350 people have reportedly been killed after a massive landslide buried a village in Argo district on Friday, according to the government officials.
Figures on the number of people killed in the disaster varied as officials try to gather precise information from the village of Ab-e-Barek.
The estimated number of dead on Saturday has surpassed 2500 people, the local officials said. This unseen landslide was caused by flooding related to ice and snow melt.
