The death toll has risen to 11 from an attack on a mosque in the northern province of Parwan, residents in the area said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday night, armed men attacked worshippers at a mosque in Khalazayee village of Parwan and escaped the scene after gunning down worshippers. Along with the 11 killed, more than a dozen were wounded.
No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Fahim, a villager who lost his father and brother in the attack, said on Wednesday that he saw armed men enter the mosque to kill the worshippers.
"I had brought food to my father," he said.
Abdul Habib is another villager who lost his son Nisar Ahmad in the attack.
"I was at home and heard the firing, I rushed to the car and reached to the scene, and these oppressors killed my 16-year-old son," said Abdul Habib, the father of Nisar Ahmad.
"The traitors of Parwan should come and respond," said an angry villager Tala Mohammad, who lost his father in the attack. "The checkpoint is nearby, but here people are killed," he said.
"I was sitting in front of the door, the attackers started shooting, I lay down on the ground," said Muhibullah, a survivor.
"All of them had guns, first they killed the Mawlavi and then others," said Abdul Jawad, a survivor.
Residents in the village on Wednesday took the coffins of the victims in front of the governor s office in Parwan and accused the security institutions of failing to protect the people.
"Neither the governor nor the commander of police asked about us," said Mohammad Ashraf, a resident of the village.
"They (the attackers) were riding on two cars with red and white colors, they came and killed the people," said Zalmay, a resident of the village.
"if there is any Taliban member there, they should go and kill the Taliban, they should not kill us in the name of the Taliban," said Ewaz Mohammad, a resident in the village.
