The United States is considering giving covid-19 tests to passengers aboard international flights.
"Were looking at doing it on the international flights coming out of areas that are heavily infected," US President Donald Trump said in a press briefing on Tuesday. "As you know, Brazil is getting to that category, I think theyre going to be okay. I hope theyre going to be okay - (President of Brazil Jair Bolsonaro) hes a very good friend of mine."
The former businessman and reality TV star further vowed to rebuild the economy "fast" in the wake of the fast growing coronavirus pandemic.
"We built the greatest economy anywhere in the world two months ago and were gonna build it again. Were going to build it fast. Its going to go very quickly," he said. "Now that our experts believe the worst days of the pandemic are behind us, Americans are looking forward to the safe and rapid reopening of our country. Throughout this ordeal, millions of hardworking Americans have been asked, well, to really make tremendous, tremendous sacrifices."
‘Tremendous, tremendous sacrifices
Trump further assured the nation that the vaccine for the novel coronavirus was under the development.
"Now that our experts believe the worst days of the pandemic are behind us, Americans are looking forward to the safe and rapid reopening of our country," said the Republican US leader. "Throughout this ordeal, millions of hardworking Americans have been asked, well, to really make tremendous, tremendous sacrifices."
President Trump also expressed hope that the US cases, which have claimed some 60,000 lives so far, would get to zero.
"It will go down to zero ultimately. And you have to understand, when it comes to cases, we do much more testing than anybody else. So, we could go to some of these other countries, you know, as an example, China. If you test, youre going to show many more cases, claimed the US president. "So, were testing, were doing more testing than any other country in the world by far... So, were going to show more cases because were doing much, much more testing, double anybody else. Somebody said if you add everybody else combined, that would be a number and it will be at the appropriate time, it will be down to zero like we said."
