Keir Starmer has been elected as the leader of the British Labour Party, signalling perhaps the beginning of a new era for Labour. Jeremy Corbyn the former Labour Party leader, who stepped down in the wake of general election defeat to Boris Johnson, was notably an advocate for an anti-war, pro-Palestinian foreign policy position, something that many fear will change in the Labour Party with Keir Starmer.
The new changes to the Labour Party, under its newly appointed leader Keir Starmer, will mean a cleansing of Corbyn supporters from the Party. Whilst Starmer claimed he would completely stamp out alleged anti-Semitism in the Party, meaning a further witch hunt against Pro-Palestinian members.
Keir Starmer has previously described himself as a Zionist, indicating that he identifies with a racist ideology and will likely not a balanced approach on the Palestine-Israel conflict. Starmers wife also has relatives who are Israelis that live in Tel Aviv.
Lisa Nandy has now been selected to be Starmers foreign shadow secretary, indicating that Starmers foreign policy opinion makers would be led by a woman who has previously taken a strong anti-Russian stance and vows to do the same in the future.
When asked whether Keir Starmer would fill his frontbench team with Blairites, meaning supporters of former Labour leader Tony Blair, he stated that he wants to move on from such labels, indicating perhaps that on foreign policy the New Labour Party may be very much like one of the Labour movements of the past.
