Spains military forces tested on Sunday (March 22) one of their vehicles adapted with a snow-cannon to disinfect the streets faster.
Military Emergency Unit (UME) forces were deployed in Castillo de Bayuela, a town 70 miles (112 kilometres) from Madrid, to disinfect the streets and a healthcare centre with an innovative truck that blows disinfectant out as if it were snow.
Spains death toll from coronavirus soared to 1,720 on Sunday from 1,326 the day before, according to latest data from the Health Ministry.
The one-day rise in deaths of 394 was higher than the previous days increase of 324. Spain is grappling with Europes second-worst coronavirus outbreak.
The number of registered cases in the country rose to 28,572 on Sunday from 24,926 in the previous tally announced on Saturday (March 21), the official data showed.
Spains government will seek parliamentary approval to extend a two-week state of emergency by a further 15 days in an effort to combat the coronavirus, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced.
Speaking after a meeting with regional government heads, Sanchez said his government wants to prolong restrictions on movement that were introduced on March 14, and which prevent Spaniards from leaving their houses for all but essential trips, until April 11.
