The Sixth Quadrilateral Meeting was held in Muscat, Oman, on Monday and was attended by representatives from Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and the United States, said the Afghan foreign ministry.
Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah said the quadrilateral meeting between the four countries will improve Kabul-Islamabad relationships.
"Afghanistan-Pakistan relations will be discussed at the meeting and the results will be released," said Abdullah.
From Afghanistan, the political deputy foreign minister, representatives from the High Peace Council (HPC) and from the National Security Council (NSC) attended the meeting to discusses the issues around peace and counterterrorism efforts with representatives of China, US and Pakistan.
According to the foreign ministry, participants of the meeting were also expected to talk on the fulfilling of the commitments that are made and being made by the affected countries.
"We expect that specific goals should be set for the fulfillment of the promises made in the past meetings and also for the peace roadmap that was sketched," Shekib Mustaghni, foreign ministry spokesman said.
A number of parliament members meanwhile said the Afghan delegation that participated at the meeting should have full authority to deliver their demands clearly.
Before this, five quadrilateral meetings were held and a road map was sketched out for peace, but after the meetings, Pakistan was accused of not fulfilling its promises and the follow up meeting was delayed for one year.
The first quadrilateral meeting was held between Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and US on the sidelines of Heart of Asia Summit in 2015 and following that, four other meetings were held in Kabul and Islamabad.
