Hezb-e-Islami Shura endorses Ashraf Ghani in election runoff

The Alliance of Hebz-e-Islami Party Council – Hezb-e-Islami Shura led by Alhaj Wahidullah Sabawoon on Friday announced to support Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai during the second round of election.

Alhaj Wahidulah Sabawoon said the Alliance of Hezb-e-Islami Council consisting of five political parties and fourteen Shura will support Dr. Ashraf Ghani during the election runoff.

Sabawoon said only Dr. Ghani can deliver an effective transformation that brings stability, peace and unity to Afghanistan.

Another senior member of Hezb-e-Islami Shura, Qazir Amin Weqad said they have decided to support Dr. Ghani as he considered as an appropriate candidate who can save Afghanistan.

Qazi Weqad further added that the Hezb-e-Islami Shura remains committed to lasting peace in Afghanistan and vowed to stand united by Dr. Ghani for national unity.

Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai welcomed Hezb-e-Islami Shura’s decision to join their team and said, “Today is a historic day as we are moving close the national consensus we dream of.”

Ghani called on his opponents to join hands with his team and maintain national unity and positive competition.

He said, “We will welcome our opponents with open arms when we win. We consider them as colleagues now & will do after winning the elections too.”

In the meantime, he criticized the irresponsible remarks regarding the election and said, “Every spokesperson that talks of division and rivers of blood must be suspended immediately.”
