228 complaints of potential fraud filed against presidential candidates

The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) said Tuesday they have received 228 formal complaints of potential fraud against the presidential candidates.

Independent Electoral Complaints (ECC) spokesman, Nadir Mohsini said additional 573 complaints were filed against the provincial council candidates and 772 complaints were filed against the Independent Election Commission (IEC) officials.

Mr. Mohsini further added that complaints of potential fraud were noted in 29 provinces of Afghanistan during the elections day.

According to Mohsini, the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) has so far received 3,103 complaints regarding the potential fraud during the elections day, however around 1,573 formal complaints have been filed with them.

He said the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (ECC) has launched investigations into formal complaints they have received.

The shortage of ballot papers in certain polling stations was one of the main issue during the elections day and the ECC officials are saying that they are doubtful of ballot stuffing.
